Recurring Tasks
We’re excited to announce the Recurring Tasks feature, designed to simplify and streamline repetitive workflows. This feature is ideal for agencies managing tasks that restart regularly, such as monthly reporting, weekly status updates, or routine client deliverables.
Why Use Recurring Tasks?
- Save Time: Automate task creation for repeatable processes, eliminating the need to set up tasks manually every week or month.
- Stay Organised: Ensure recurring work is never overlooked with automatic task generation, keeping your workflows consistent.
- Boost Efficiency: Focus on meaningful work while Outlign takes care of the repetitive task setup.
- Maintain Accountability: Regular tasks appear on time, keeping your team on track with client expectations and deadlines.
How Recurring Tasks Work
When you set up a recurring task, Outlign creates a template based on the state of the task at that point in time. Then, on the 1st of each month (or week), a brand new task is created from that template.
📝 Any changes you make to the original task after setting up recurrence—like approvals, comments, or edits—won’t affect the recurring task. The recurring tasks will always be created based on the original template.
So, for example, if you set up a recurring task called "Monthly Reports", Outlign will take a snapshot of that task and use it as the template going forward. When the next month rolls around, a fresh task will be created, completely separate from the original.
Use Case Example
Imagine you have a client retainer requiring monthly reporting. Instead of manually recreating this task each month, set it up as a recurring task. The feature will automatically generate the task at the start of each month, reminding you and the client to action the task.
