If you or your client are running into issues logging in — even after trying to reset the password — it’s usually due to a security check we have in place.
Outlign checks new passwords against known data breaches.
If the password you’re trying to use has appeared in a previous breach anywhere on the internet, it will be blocked.
This can happen even if:
You’ve never used that password before
It feels “new” or unique to you
This is a standard security measure recommended by industry experts to help protect your account.
You’ll need to choose a completely unique password that hasn’t been used (or exposed) before.
A good approach is:
Use a longer passphrase made up of random words
Add a mix of symbols, numbers, and punctuation
Examples of strong formats:
tractor-velvet-mango-cliff-7!
lantern.koala.button.sprint.4@
(Don’t use these exact ones — just follow the pattern.)
Alternatively, you can use a password manager like 1Password to generate something secure automatically, for example:
6k_tBmwHu9zPRi9fJeDd
Try to steer clear of:
Years (e.g. 2023, 2024, 2025)
Common patterns like:
Word2024!
CompanyName1!
FirstnameDOB!
These are often already exposed or easy to guess.
We know it can feel a bit frustrating, but this step helps:
Reduce the risk of account breaches
Keep your data (and your clients’ data) safe
